"content": "Thinking about this day a little bit this morning, it was my sons first birthday 8 years ago- I was on my first big fire in Washington state. We drove through an eternity of flames on both sides of the road that night. Feeling the heat I remember writing a letter to my boy. We lost 3 firefighters that week and it was a sobering complex to say the least. Ended up being one of the worst in WA state history. I’ve lost friends and mentors since then in the line of duty and think of them often, praying for their families. This year I’m taking some time off to make a record but I plan to get back to work as a volunteer in my community again next season. Praying for all the first responders working through this season.
