Supporting Trump is high time preference. Hear me out.
I agree with his supporters on the following points they use to justify their support.
1. The current system is corrupt.
2. Trump is not from or for the current system.
3. Trump intends to remove the corrupt who are part of the current system from power and end their corruption.
4. Trump is likely to be able to make that happen faster than anyone else at this time.
Here is where we differ. I keep thinking about what happens after that. Once that happens, there will be no one left with the power to stop him from having absolute political power. What system will he build? What will he do? Eventually he dies and someone else gets all that power. What system will they build? What will they do?
Anyone who knows any history knows that the more powerful the single leader of a country is, the worse it is for the people there. 1 great leader sometimes uses that power for good for their entire reign, but that is extremely rare. Then what happens when the next person takes over?
Just one specific example. After Marcus the empire fell. 1500 years of chaos and degradation for the population before the renaissance started to turn the corner and show improvement.
So Trump supporters, are you in it for a grudge next year or do you want to build a better world for your grandkids? I know my answer.
