This is new. Seagate has now removed from it's documentation how long they warranty a hard drive for. Looking at the docs for their IronWolf drives. You have to buy the drive to get a serial number to figure out how many years warranty you get.
Seems that it violates the ambiguous part of the law.
Edit: apparently it's on the quick ref/data sheet. Seagate should mention that in the user manual.
