He views the peculiar feelings of dread and unease associated with the uncanny/unheimlich as connected to the presence of the familiar within the strange and the strange within the familiar. So a cute cottage with a weird vibe would be more uncanny than a gothic castle because it contains that unhomely homeliness, aka Wrong Cozy 😊
