Check out this image from the CDC 160 brochure of 1961. The 160 was a desk size tiny 12 bit/4Kw computer, same era as the much larger 48 bit/32Kw 1604. This image predates the CDC 6600 supercomputer by 3 years - but there it is on the left side of the display!!
