Maybe her cognitive dissonance flaring up; maybe she actually read the side of her pack of masks that say they "Do Not protect against corona virus" and didn't know what else to do.
I suspect the only reason she didn't just wrap her entire head with it is because she already tried it and woke up in the ER.
