I feel like there has to be a decent percent of projects that use NextJS simply because a certain class of developers these days simply don't even know how to sprinkle in a small amount of client-side behavior in a largely server-side application _without_ React.
Like, ok, here's a basic PHP CMS project using server-side static HTML caching, just make me a simple client-side pager.
