This summer has been the hottest on record as climate change continues to make temperatures hotter worldwide. Although countries have agreed to reduce emissions, something more drastic might be required to slow the consequences of rising temperatures. A new study suggests that a giant solar shade in space could block just enough sunlight to counter climate change. It's a vast undertaking but could be doable by attaching the sunshade to an asteroid counterweight. Together they could block about 1.7% of solar radiation, preventing a rise in global temperatures.
