BTW, another example of TvTropers being spiritual midgets: It's not Nomamoto and Kitami's *worldviews* that are miserable, it's their ACTUAL, OBJECTIVE LIVING CONDITIONS that fucking suck shit. Nomamoto being poor as hell and making less money than niggers on welfare in the US isn't something she's imagining, it's the story told by her actual fucking paycheck. Kitami's problem isn't that he's unwilling to embrace change and open up his heart to the aliens, it's the fact that THE ALIENS KILLED HIS WHOLE FAMILY.
