I have a friend that semi-regilarly disappears for 48-72 hours at a time, zero announcement in advance. There's no way to get hold of him telephonically or electronically.
It's usually because he has discovered that he has at least one unemptied bottle of vodka - or functionally equivalent - in arms reach.
