#OTD 5 August 1881 Dottie May Maddox was born in Kingman County, Kansas. She married John Newton Tyner in Oklahoma after the Maddox family claimed a homestead in that state. Dottie and John farmed in both Oklahoma and Florida. Hurricanes and floods were part of their Florida life and brought tragedy to the family.
This family's experiences come to mind as Hurricane Debby dumps rain through Florida and the southeast US this week.
