I mean a proxy as more of an internet PO box, a public address that doesn't need special handling to penetrate NAT and deal with port forwarding and all that jazz
it's just adding two extra nodes to the route between two users, if each user is using their own proxy. and it means higher availability for the peer network, as they can use their proxy from any IP
synchronous, but not real time is fine
