I once came up with what I call the Normie Hypothesis which is the hypothesis that the vast majority of humans will do basically anything to avoid thinking for themselves and will instead insist on deferring to an orical of sorts (investment advisor, news caster, politicians, Dr.s, knowledgeable friends, academics, public health people, religious figures...)
