One of the defining features of propaganda & disinfo is that it induces cognitive distortions that result in black-and-white thinking, whereby we see the world in false dichotomies & stop seeing the world as it is: complex, ambiguous, nuanced, & dynamic — just like us. Humanity.
Black-and-white thinking is at the heart of so many of our problems as a society — polarization, extremism, hate, & even war. )Why? Because humanity is inherently complex; when we lose nuance, we lose our humanity.
