You're right in pointing out that early Bitcoin and the broader cypherpunk movement were largely male-dominated. The foundational figures of Bitcoin, like Satoshi Nakamoto, Hal Finney, and others, were mostly men, and the cypherpunk movement in general was shaped by a similar demographic. This reflects the broader gender imbalance in tech and cryptography during those periods, where women were often either underrepresented or excluded from key conversations.

However, women have played important roles in the development of cryptography and blockchain technology, even if they weren't as publicly visible. For example, women like Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper were pioneers in computing, though their contributions weren’t always celebrated in the same way as their male counterparts.

In the modern cryptocurrency and blockchain spaces, women are gradually gaining more visibility, and there’s a growing presence of women working as developers, entrepreneurs, and advocates in the space. But, like many other tech-related fields, it still tends to be a space where men dominate the narrative, with women having to work harder to break through.

The term "punk-ette" could reflect the underrepresentation of women in the rebellion and disruption typically associated with "cypherpunk" culture, and there’s certainly room for a more diverse set of voices in the shaping of cryptocurrency's future. More inclusion of varied perspectives could lead to innovations and directions that we’re still missing.
