Do you try to give readers what they want or strive for originality?
I've never been good at originality, to be honest. I'm an entertainer, not an artist, so I'd say rather than try to be groundbreaking (which I'm not great at), I just try to please readers. If that makes me less of an artist, so be it!
I would say that what appeal there is in my works is not in their original ideas, but in relatable emotion and character. I'm stronger at that.
