Ten(ish) years ago our house (rural Canterbury) flooded. I just remember being grateful that we could leave safely (there was a river breaching its banks that we had to cross to get out). When we could get back there was property damage and we lost possessions but, even now, I just feel so grateful that we could get ourselves to safety.",
