Today, the only "acceptable" choice for C is in tiny embedded software. I heard that even Linus—who said, "There's nothing better than C for Linux kernel development", is contemplating a switch to Rust.
I really like Go (in my view, a true successor to C). And npub1le9tuxl45nq885gwre5humcvv9axlalqqs7fe3khmp0ax3ucekrsjusf4t (npub1le9…sf4t) is perhaps the best for embedded work.
But sadly, we programmers don't get to pick the languages to do our work; our paymasters do.
