That BG3 thing was apparently a bug with companion affinity thresholds and wasn't supposed to happen that way, and these companion quests in Starfield happen after you travel with and have conversations with these companions for a while, so not quite. I'm starting to suspect that my view of the Starfield Companion quests may have been a bit unfairly slanted by the fact that journos put their guides for them all in the "romance" section of their guides for expiedency even though you can apparantly be 100% platonic with said quests.
