reminds me i got some round watch glass to test that out... but yes, a circular touchpad should work fine, it might rotate slightly whilst in use without the anchors, but a little adhesive or just making sure its a snug fit should help. it doesnt affect usability either if it does spin since its capacitive, it just makes it feel a bit nicer if it doesn't shift about when scrolling.
