Who is in charge of #writersofdamus? Is it me? Is there anyone else here?
Well, I hit all my self-imposed #writer KPIs this week. 2k added to the current manuscript , including a new 500 word intro, which I'm rather pleased with, other than the first line. Spent an hour researching trade winds just because I wanted to use 'the south-easterly was fierce for so early in the morning' and I still don't know if I wanna hyphenate 'south-easterly' when it is correctly 'southeasterly', but it looks like a typo, doesn't it? Anyway, it's the first line in the book and I've rewritten it 20 times already, only stopping when I recalled the Camus character who spends his whole life coming up with the perfect opening line and then dies, never writing the rest of his book.
Total word count for #WIP is 34,958.
I also had a go at writing a query letter with only a couple of years lurking on the PubTips subreddit to guide me and it came in at 438 words.
After I do the housework, I still have Sunday free, so I'm going to spend it fiddling with the outline for the next project. Trying to go high concept, but I don't think 'unemployed mathematicians via Paul Fenech's Housos' is really that.
Good luck with your #writing goals if you're tracking them. 🪶
