I drove 269.61 km on a birding trip today, over around 5 hours. I really only had one goal species in one spot, but I ended up going to (or at least attempting to) another four locations. Ironically, the one closest to home had the greatest variety. As usual!
The one thing that tried to ruin the day was that bloody wind!
1. The goal species — Kuaka at Manawatu River Estuary.
2. A bonus Greenfinch at Otaki River mouth.
3. Pūkeko chicks at Waimanu Lagoons, Waikanae Beach.
