I don't think it's a bad idea either, but getting wallets on board with it seemed to be problematic. Alby was willing to play along, but I think apps like Strike or CashApp, not so much.
I actually do a .well-known/keysend lookup with the address first to see if it supports keysend, then fall back to .well-known/lnurlp if the first request fails, so I'm not sure the options lookup is strictly necessary since I'm doing the same number of calls this way anyway.
