For the 1st time, says New Atlas, mosquitos have delivered a malaria vaccine rather than the disease. The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine modified the single-celled plasmodium falciparum parasite that hides in the glands of female mosquitos and causes the deadly disease. After tests, the parasitologists showed a remarkable 90% of those inoculated in this way had developed immunity to the disease. Hopefully, the technique will lead to widespread vaccination. Amazing stuff!
