For a lot of #Parents this is too late, but since I saw them suffer from presents, here a little tip: don't give fake plastic toy instruments to kids, normally the entry level real version is only marginal more expensive, sometimes even cheaper.
You will get a music instrument that actually is able to create nice sounds that can be properly tuned.
