Bees don't care about pollinating flowers, yet they still do.

A cop might not care about solving murders (which I doubt, these are humans at work after all), yet they still do.

Who's going to take over that work in a police free society? Because it is work: gathering evidence, due process -- all to hopefully keep arbitrariness at bay.

Mind you: I am posing this question in the circumstance of an idealised thought experiment.
