Right, that's often part of it, but the thing I'm pointing at is you don't need to have a specific target here. Suppose you have one utxo of 0.1 btc and another of 0.001 btc. If your plan is to open a channel of 0.1 btc, you usually don't care that it's *exactly* that, unlike when you're paying for a product, when your payment size has to be fixed. So you can sweep up the second utxo and have two inputs to the tx and have the channel be size 0.1005 or whatever.
