That a seasoned #GNU #Linux sysadmin takes *3 hours* to install #GUIX *2 times* on a #thinkpad despite following the *official* Manual Installation instructions is all that is wrong about #GUIX now.
I love David Wilson (npub16ex…l9hd) work and I do want to use #GUIX and #Guile but life is just too short. #devlife

quoting nevent1q…qmvwLove ended with #guix both the software distribution (distro) and the package manager.
I really tried to love you #guix, I did. I even began learning some #guile #scheme (which I plan to continue regardless BTW)
But for the love of me the distro just did not support wireless networking on my testing laptop, even using the `non-guix` repo. and a wireless enabled unofficial ISO, thanks

The package manager was a nightmare to setup on #archlinux and on #debian forever failed to build a basic package like `chezmoi`
Maybe I'm too stupid and old and #guix is just too hardcore for me now.
So onto #nixos it is, which I had some very fond memories of the time it's package manager allowed to setup a development environment on an obsolete Macbook Air. It was the pandemic and #nixos made that Macbook usable despite #osx
