Everyone seems surprised that Starfleet captains violate the Prime Directive so frequently.
I think most people misunderstand why it’s called the 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦 Directive. It doesn’t apply to every alien encounter. Only the prime-numbered ones (2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th, and so on).
