Because everything you've heard is projection, meant to distract simple-minded idiots from realizing that your own govt is doing exactly what it been accusing Russia, ie, Putin, of doing.
Any intelligent person would come to the conclusion that if your govt is lying about the war in Ukraine, there is probably a hidden agenda. The US has been trying to overthrow Russia for years, as this 2019 Pentagon-funded, Rand corporation paper says "Overextending and Unbalancing Russia" : Geopolitical Cost-Imposing Measures, Providing Lethal Aid to Ukraine - among its many tactics to weaken Russia.
Or maybe overthrow Ukraine in a US sponsored coup in 2014 so we could install a Western-friendly puppet to greenlight NATO in Ukraine?
