This Buzzfeed article re: sexist wedding traditions cracks me up. We were very intentional about not doing the garter toss, being announced as "Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wolverton," etc--but I very specifically remember my dad (abandoned the family, skipped out on child support until caught) assuming he was going to give me away at the wedding. I said, "What, am I your prize cow or something? I am not anyone's possession to be given away." The awkward silence was hilarious.
