I had a pack of Koreans over for dinner, they refused to touch the baba ganoush, said it was too smoky and traumatic, they had flashbacks to the Filipino-Sinai wars of old, smoky eggplant reminding them of muskets blasting in their ears. I said that really made no sense, and they agreed, so then they said that they weren't going to eat the baba ganoush because it was gross. This really devastated me, and I spent the rest of the dinner in silent contemplation as the Koreans ate all my schwarma.
