On Saturday morning I went out with my big camera on a whim to a local horse field, just a two minute walk down the road. Loaded up with some Ilford HP5+ used at box speed, 400 ASA, as the weather was grim and took two rolls' worth of close ups (20 images at 6x7).
Wasn't happy with the previous rolls of 35mm HP5+ in a 1:4 mix of the Ilford DDX developer. HP5+ is a grainy film by its very nature however the DDX at that dilution amplified it. So this time, with larger medium format film I increased the dilution of the DDX to 1:9 instead and upped the development time. Note: DDX is stupidly expensive with a short shelf life once opened and didn't want to waste it.
At first glance the 6x7 negatives are looking good, a softer contrast which is what I was aiming for and I'd say a significantly smaller grain structure. I'll get them scanned tomorrow and see for sure how it has all gone.
