In the 1980-90ies, Evelyn Fox Keller was an icon in the feminist criticism of science.
In her 1985 book "Reflections on Gender and Science", fittingly entitled "Love, Power and Insight" in German, she criticised the deep lack of empathy in modern science produced by its objectifying approach to knowledge: a lack of relationship associated with male power.
She was quietly impressive when I briefly met her once in her office at MIT. Sadly, she passed away in Sept, aged 87.
