A, I get what you mean, as UNIX only has one directory tree and this has one for each drive, like on Windows. Except that it doesn't, since the tree is independent of the drive and you could have n number of drives with the same tree. The drive can tell you what the first dir in it's tree is, but the dir can't tell you what it's drive is.
