I feel like it's worth noting that ATC can't work past a certain age (56, I believe) and all they're doing is directing plane traffic. A president, in many ways, is directing the free world.
I think 56 is an extreme cut off, and should be determined by some kind of "medical" that checks fitness, reaction time, and mental acuity which can push that limit closer to standard retirement age...but still. Leadership should fall to people who can comfortably fit the descriptor "middle aged". I'd even take a young adult. It makes no sense to me to have people under 35 barred from running. I wouldn't want a 21 year old, but anyone over 25 with the right background would be absolutely fine by me.
