I just spent a larger chunk of my life that I wanted trying to get into the aurora hatch in long dark. Here is what I learned:
1) the game has shit RNG (as do all games)
2) the weather is NOT predetermined. It changes on game reload

I wasted a god damn week of in game time camping out waiting for the aurora to happen. I got the bright idea of just repeatedly reload instead and BEHOLD after reloading and sleeping like 15 times I finally got it open

3) the contents of the bunker is not remotely worth it
