Apart from occasional severe weather events, it's been about 20 years since I did any serious listening to a police scanner. Some of the changes I've noticed:

1) state police seem to have gone encrypted or digital (whatever they are using is incompatible with my devices)

2) significant increase in calls related to mental health issues

3) significant increase in EMS calls to dispatchers for 'lifting assistance' with patients
