Continuing my PVB saga: the vendor and I figured out the problem, and boy howdy is it a doozy. Basically, the Cyclopes (and really, any dryer) heats from one direction only, and I didn't rotate the spool in it. As a result, only one part of the spool dried, which resulted in that striping we saw!
