Jesse Skinner :javascript: (nprofile…m43n) I don't know about this exact technology, but I can argue without a doubt that AI will eventually surpass human capacities... it's just a matter of how long that'll take and whether the current technology is capable of reaching there or is just a branch in the path.
To be clear, the reason I argue that is that there's no reasonable future in which we can't at bare minimum replicate a human brain. It would be ridiculous to think that we couldn't eventually do so. At which point we're already at human capacity unless you start arguing about souls (and that's just religion which is ridiculous to consider in this argument). From there we can tune the brain (between the fact that there are so many well established flaws in our brains from early in development to the fact that there are so many cases of animals showing specific cognitive abilities that exceed ours showing that it's possible there... on to the simple possibility of just integrated coprocessors). Likewise we know that it can be done in reasonable power consumption levels (how much power/resources would it take to run a brain in a jar?).
