Studying history is analogous to pearing up at the night stars and trying to connect them in an attempt to tell stories. The stars themselves are objective reality, but how we see them is a function of WHERE and WHEN we view them. How we connect these dots are often based on preconceptions of the pictures already in our mind. The stars' positions tend to reinforce our current ideas, seldom do they inspire us to think differently.
The same facts, can be used to paint many pictures. Every picture can have multiple interpretations. How can we attempt to understand what is true?
