Random thought, probably from consuming 10x the articles I normaly read, past few weeks.
What if, a strengthened executive branch is what achieves us greater devolution of rights, powers, agencies, programs back to the states? Trump’s comments on education at the press conference with the Japanese PM put this thought in my head.
I think it would be a net benefit to find ourselves in an country where the executive is stronger, but over a much reduced federal footprint - like the (greatly reduced) military, borders, foreign affairs, and as little else as possible.
And I say that knowing that it will allow my state - Illinois - to race with California, New York, and New Jersey to see who can be the worst 😂
