Adolph (nprofile…5k85) GABA is short for Gamma AminoButyric Acid. I take it sublingually if I have to get to sleep quickly. In about 5-7 minutes there's a sort of wave that sweeps over me that can be ridden to a deep sleep if I hop on. If I resist that wave, the feeling fades & the effect is gone. A repeated dose has diminishing effects, higher doses are req'd.
GABA is a natural hormone that your brain uses, & is involved with sleep.
