The Steam "marketing" team was blindsided by how popular Spring Sale-chan was.
Their pivot into an anime-esque aesthetic has showed them increased engagement from Japan which continues to be a rapidly growing region for PC in general. In fact, 2chan's Steam sale threads even outpace /v/'s which tend to be some of the faster threads on the board when a major sale is on:

6k+ posts and counting. Users all collectively agree that "Haru-chan" is great and they want more of her.
This has made Valve rethink their Seasonal sales branding in the near future. Already in the talks of perhaps introducing a Summer-chan, Fall-chan, and Winter-chan sales mascots too. And in the long run they might even introduce an Aperture-themed vtuber as one of the frontfacing marketing staff of Steam.

Imagine finding an issue with that. This is great news. Valve has for too long discriminated against Japanese games on Steam with unfair censorship and even bans. Good to see the dissipation of their unnecessary aversion.
