Ok. This is still nagging me.
People voted for Trump for the following reasons (not all are exclusive):
1) they think they will do better and they are right (small group of my friends).
2) they think they will do better because they were deluded by the propaganda and are wrong about doing better.
3) they didn’t want a woman president and/or a non-white president.
4) they were bound and determined to see the people they don’t like have it worse, even if they hurt themselves in the process.
5) they wanted to send a message to the Democrats on their issue.
Now, if you plug Israel-loving Americans into #4 (I know some single-issue voters) and plug people who support the Palestinian-supporting people into #5, this is the one that absolutely blows my mind.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m definitely pro-Israel, but I’m not in favor of how Bibi is conducting the war and I think that Bibi unfettered is not good for the long-term prospects for Israel or Jews worldwide. At the same time, every pro-Palestinian person that by their actions or inactions supported a Trump administration voted for the very thing they say they don’t want.
I have a much snarkier way to say the same thing, but it’s not politically correct enough.
If someone with the pro-Palestinian perspective as their main focus still supported Trump, I’d love to understand it.
