Do you think it's important for a main character to be likable?
Absolutely not! The biggest sin for a main character is to be boring, not unlikable. Everyone has different traits that endear someone to them, so trying to chase the idea of a universally likable MC is foolhardy. What one person will find likable another might find annoying. I have a couple of characters in my story I find very likeable, but the driving characters all have abrasive character traits
