After the crypto wars is before the crypto wars.
I think odds are that in the next few years we'll see the US government explicitly require, not merely ask for, broad, default-enabled "lawful access" (i.e., magic "good guys only" backdoors, where the quotes around "good guys" are doing real heavy lifting), especially for messaging apps, cloud providers, CDNs.
I don't expect the incoming administration to (want to) understand actual details and rather ask the industry to nerd harder, dorks.
