Sadly, many writers have a romantic view, largely learned from film, of sitting back, writing, drinking their favorite drink, and living on huge advances while their publisher does all the work.

I'm dreadfully lacking in the technical skills that would make a huge difference, but at this point in my life I'd rather write anyway.
