When I was in jr. high, my science teacher assigned us to build an insect collection. We mounted many of them on a foam board with pins. Some of the more delicate butterflies were in envelopes. Passing required at least 60 species. To get an A took a minimum of 100 species. We were out at nights shining flashlights onto sheets and flipping over rocks and leaves.
I wonder if any teacher, anywhere, makes such an assignment today, and how hard it would be to pass if they did.
