It’s striking to me that after over a decade of Twitter making a go of it, all the major (western) microblogging platforms aren’t really businesses. Instead, they’re loss-leaders (Threads), nonprofits (Bsky, Mastodon), or vanity projects (Truth Social, X).
Turns out microblogging is a bad business!
